JOB DESCRIPTION: Senior Planner
Osceola County Board of County Commissioners
Description
Supervises, assists and coordinates the work of lower level Planners on assigned projects. Reviews and assesses changes to the future land use map. Continually revises the comprehensive plan. Assists in the long range planning functions of the department by providing information and analysis. Participates in the development and implementation of the Land Development Code. Documents demographic information. Assists applicants with submittal of conditional use, comprehensive development plan, subdivision, rezoning, plan amendment, and DRI authorizations. Reviews applications and requests for compliance and consistency with regulations and adopted County policies. Assists the general public and developers with the application of the future land use map as designated on their property. Based upon review of the map, a decision is made as to the development of the property. Prepares and makes presentations to the BCC, Planning Commission, and community groups. Provides technical assistance at meetings. Conducts necessary research and analyzes collected data. Prepares and presents public information and education programs.

Required Experience: Requirements
* Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Planning, Public Administration or related field.
* Two years of progressively responsible experience in a public or private planning agency, OR, graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Planning or Public Administration.
* Four years of progressively responsible experience in a public or private planning agency.
* Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of planning principles, practices, and standards. Knowledge of research and analysis techniques. Knowledge of County and municipal zoning and development regulations. Personal computer and CRT skills. Writing and public relations skills. Ability to formulate goals, objectives, and policies and prepare land use plans. Ability to analyze data and make estimates and projections based on available information. Ability to interpret applicable federal, state, and local planning laws, rules and regulations. Ability to program and coordinate planning related tasks. Ability to supervise effectively. Ability to communicate at a very high level, both orally and in writing. Manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination are required in the operation of computers.
